BNYM Indigenous Designs
BNYM boasts an enviable reputation as the producer of the finest pottery and ceramics in contemporary Australian Aboriginal Art. Each pottery piece includes a unique Indigenous design which incorporates contemporary cultural themes, cultural beliefs, spiritual awareness, and individuality.
We are proudly Supply Nation certified as an indigenous owned and managed organisation. We make and paint all our products by hand in our workshop in Morwell, Victoria and each piece is signed by the artist. We use Australian products as much as possible in our production – our clay is from Bendigo – and because we care so much about local production, we are pleased to be certified as a Product of Australia producer.
Based in the La Trobe Valley region of Victoria, BNYM Indigenous Designs was formed in 2001 by Sam Walker-Wilson, the late Mary Edwards, Shilo Van Sanden, Tweety Solomon and the late Aunty Jenny Solomon.
The name BNYM (pronounced “Binum”) is an anagram of the clans of the founding members: Bungalung, Naragu, Yorta Yorta, and Muttie Muttie.
In 2011, Bnym Aboriginal Corporation was formed as a not-for-profit indigenous owned and managed organisation. This is the parent company of Bnym Indigenous Designs.
Bnym Aboriginal Corporation is registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Organisations, an Australian Government authority.
BNYM aims to showcase the wealth of Indigenous culture to national and international audiences. For over 20 years now, we have been doing just that.
We acknowledge the Gunai Kurnai nation, the traditional owners of the land on which we work, and we pay our respects to their elders – past, present and emerging.
We are proud of our product quality and service and you are welcome to visit us to see our work. Our workshop trading hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
